Anybody play this on the 3DS? I've played a few levels on my homebrew'd 3DS but couldn't get into it b/c a) not a big FF person and b) the control scheme was kinda different than other rhythm games i played before.

Is it worth revisiting here again on PS4? IGN gave it pretty great reviews for this version. Or should I hold off till I play some FF games first?

Alright, the last time I played a rhythm game was when "parappa the rapper" came out. Gosh, what a silly game that was. I never really had interest in these types of games.

But, Theatrythm Final Bar Line has music from games I actually like. Final Fantasy, Xenogears, and Octopath Travelers. If only they could get the licensing for Mega Man 2 or sonic the hedgehog 3. Either way, Id love to give this release a try.

While there are certainly new game 'checks' the backporting process in general doesn't change between firmware versions, some previous topics can be found HERE, HERE and HERE with 'generic' Backport Tools also available.

Unfortunately 'automated' backporting tools work for a very limited amount of games as they don't utilize real logic (only scan for common code routines and offsets to patch) rendering them useless for the most part to those seeking to backport new games.

PS4 backporting work like scene devs do requires actual knowledge and comprehension in analyzing code within disassemblers (Ghidra, Interactive Disassembler, etc).

@Ro8v some classic titles ive played with my daughter (she's 6) are obv mario bros, kirby, etc. I utilize retroarch for the emulation as its very good when it comes to old nes, snes, genesis, colecovision, etc. you just need to find the roms for games which isn't hard at all, setup retroarch, also isn't difficult.

I play old ps1 titles all the time on my ps4 via retroarch its an execellent emu front end, offers cheat support and value searching for almost all games and is essentially a swiss army knife of an emu gui. it adds quite a bit of playability on the ps4 and an absolute must of older gen game lovers like myself.
